- Is the Office of Residence Life open?
- How will Belmont be handling social distancing protocols in the residence halls?
Updated
When will move-in day be, and how will it be done to ensure social distancing?- Students are encouraged to only bring guests with them that are necessary for assisting them with move-in. All students and family members present for and assisting with move-in are required to wear face masks in the residence halls and outside. Face masks are currently required on Belmont’s campus.
- Cars and vehicles are limited to two per student. We encourage our students to not bring trailers or U-Haul trucks. Residence Life discourages the use of trailers and U-Hauls as they will not fit in our parking facilities.
- Please arrive at your assigned move-in time if you were given one. ResLife staff will be available in the lobby of your complex to check you in during posted check-in times for new students. If you arrive outside of this check-in window, there will be an "on-call" phone number posted so that someone can check you in.
- For the safety of our students, families, and staff, there will not be volunteers available in the spring to assist with move-in.
- To expedite the check-in process, please fill out some basic information through your housing portal now so that you don’t have to do so when you arrive. You will need to: 1.) Login to myBelmont, 2.) Select the Housing icon from the Launch Pad, 3.) Select “Housing Application” at the top, and 4.) Select “Check In Information” and fill out the form.
- Areas closest to complex entrances will be reserved as unloading zones. You will be asked to relocate your vehicle (to a different lot or another level of your complex’s parking garage) after unloading in order to keep unloading zones clear for incoming students.
- What will cleaning in the residence halls look like?
- Will I be required to wear a mask in my residential complex?
- Will you all be hosting events in the residence halls?
Updated
Will on-campus residents be allowed visitors? Will there be any changes to the visitation policy?- How can I cancel my Fall 2020 housing? Can I still live on campus in the spring?
Yes! While your ResLife team has has remained available remotely (with staff on campus available on-call 24/7), we are excited to be back in the office and following strict guidelines for a safe return-to-work. Please call our office (615.460.5802) if we can assist you.
The best course of action should you have any questions specific to your complex is to contact your complex's Residence Director if your question is not answered below.
For Belmont's return plans, please visit belmont.edu/return.
We are currently assessing our housing needs and options for the fall so that we can provide Belmont students with the best possible on-campus experience. Our goal is to accommodate as many students on campus as we can within the recommended guidelines while implementing practices that will prioritize safety.
In our lobbies, where students typically gather, you’ll see that we will be monitoring maximum occupancies depending on the complex’s lobby space, with group sizes in these areas not exceeding the maximum gathering size outlined by Nashville’s Roadmap to Reopening. Touch-free water bottle filling stations in our lobbies will still be available; however, the drinking fountain option on these units will be temporarily turned off. We will of course be encouraging appropriate social distancing – at least 6 feet of distance between you and others – and personal protection measures while in our lobbies and common spaces. You may see different furniture arrangements in our lobbies to encourage social distancing.
Spring move-in for NEW students will occur on January 10. All students may return from winter break starting on January 10. Please check out our Spring Move-In Day page for more info!
*We ask that all students monitor their Belmont email over the break as adjustments to the academic calendar could affect our spring opening dates.
New on-campus residents: Your RD will be reaching out to you with your hall's specific move-in information.

In an effort to minimize risk in community bathrooms, the Facilities Custodial team will be implementing several different strategies to keep these areas clean and sanitized:
First, these areas will be visited at least twice daily to receive cleaning and sanitizing on all high touch areas. Additionally, we will be utilizing electrostatic disinfectant sprayers in the bathroom/shower areas as another level of sanitizing. The electrostatic disinfectant sprayers allow use to use a Microban-type disinfectant that will not only kill viruses, etc. on the surface, it will continue to kill viruses, etc. on areas sprayed even after they are touched. It is our hope that these extra levels of cleaning will help reduce any potential task and/or exposure.
While community-style bathrooms will continue to be cleaned by our amazing housekeeping staff, remember that suite-style bathrooms are your and your suitemates’ responsibility to keep clean, so make sure to bring your own cleaning supplies for this shared space as well as any shared spaces within your room/apartment. Hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout campus, and you’re encourage to utilize these along with increased handwashing.
Everyone on Belmont's campus will be required to wear a mask while on campus, unless in a residence hall room, an enclosed office or other private space with no other individuals present. It is a good idea to procure several well-fitting, comfortable, washable face masks to bring with you. There will also be masks available while supplies last at the Belmont Store.
You can read more about Campus Operations in Belmont's Return to Campus plan here.
We will still be bringing you a variety of social events within the residence halls to give you and your fellow Bruins opportunities to connect safely. While we are currently assessing our abilities to safely gather in small numbers, we are moving forward with planning and encouraging outdoor, virtual, and grab & go activities in and around each residential community.
Updated 12/17:
Student safety is our number one priority, and while we want you to enjoy all that college has to offer and the new freedom it brings, we have made the decision to temporarily suspend all visitation privileges within residents' rooms/apartments in both freshman and upperclassmen complexes in the fall. We are closely monitoring recommendations from the CDC and local health officials, as we hope to reinstate some or all of our visitation privileges as soon as we can safely do so. We ask for your cooperation as we navigate how to safely allow students to connect within our communities during this unique time.
Due to the circumstances this year surrounding COVID-19, we understand that not all of our students and families may wish to return to on-campus community living at this time. If you wish to cancel your housing and meal plan, please do so as soon as possible and before move-in by emailing reslife@belmont.edu. A refund for your housing and meal plan will appear on your student account in 2-3 business days.
If you wish to live on campus in the spring, and you cancel your Fall 2020 assignment, you will need to re-apply for housing using the Spring 2021 Housing Application. This application will be available later this fall.
Students that do not live on campus in the Spring 2021 semester will not be entered into our normal housing draw for upperclassman students for Fall 2021. Students wishing to live on campus Fall 2021 will need to apply using the appropriate application and will be assigned housing by our assignments team.
