Belmont's Office of Campus Security is here around the clock — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year — to keep the our community safe.

Our team of more than 40 trained officers patrols campus, responds to emergencies and works alongside students, faculty and staff to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who calls Belmont home.

Every OCS officer is trained to respond to medical, criminal and weather-related emergencies. When you call us, we coordinate directly with Metro Nashville Police, fire and EMS — dispatching one officer to assist you and another to meet and escort emergency vehicles to your location.

Stop by: We're located on the ground floor of the Gabhart Student Center, next to University Ministries.

Our Mission

To protect members of the Belmont community while providing a safe and secure environment on campus that is conducive to learning — and to deliver that service in the most ethical, professional way possible.

What Our Officers Do

OCS officers are on campus around the clock, handling everything from emergency response to everyday assistance. On any given day, that includes:

  • Vehicle lockout and jump-start assistance
  • Safety escorts
  • Bicycle, foot and vehicle patrols
  • First response to medical and criminal emergencies
  • Crime prevention education and programming
  • Community policing and engagement
  • Enforcement of law and University policy
  • Investigation and reporting

The Belmont community is encouraged to report all campus crimes to OCS immediately. When an incident is reported, our officers conduct a preliminary investigation and refer it to the appropriate law enforcement agency when necessary. OCS maintains strong working relationships with Metro Nashville Police and other Middle Tennessee university security departments, meeting regularly with those partners to share information and best practices.
