Policies, Safety, Parking & Accessibility
Our goal is to keep every student safe, supported and informed — on stage, in lessons and on campus.
We want every student — and every parent — to feel informed, safe and supported. Please review and keep for reference.
• Lessons start on time, and late arrivals end at the scheduled time.
• Students may receive up to 2 make-up lessons per semester for excused absences (illness or emergency with 24 hours notice).
• Missed lessons without adequate notice, schedule conflicts or forgotten lessons are not eligible for make-up.
• Instructor absences will be made up.
• If Belmont University is closed, in-person lessons are canceled and will be moved online or made up later.
• If Belmont is open but travel is unsafe, you and your instructor may choose to meet online or schedule a make-up.
• If you’ve already used both make-ups, additional make-ups are at instructor discretion.
Tuition is non-refundable after the third lesson except for documented illness or injury.
• Refunds apply only to remaining weeks.
• Refunds exclude lessons already received.
• All refund requests must go through the Academy office.
• All instructors undergo background checks per University policy.
• Students 12 and under must be accompanied to and from lessons by a parent or approved adult listed on the registration form.
• Approved pickup adults can be updated any time by a parent/guardian.
• No photos or video of students will be posted publicly without a signed parental release.
[Belmont’s official Protecting Minors on Campus policy]
• Arrive 30 minutes before recital start and check in with the director.
• Please remain for the full recital to support all performers.
• No flash photography. Quiet video is allowed from your seat.
• Phones must be silenced.
• Appropriate recital dress is expected.
• Lessons take place on Belmont University’s campus.
• You’ll receive a free parking permit at the start of each semester. Display it clearly on your dashboard.
• With your permit after 3 p.m., you may park in visitor spaces on West Belmont Blvd. or in the Hitch lot.
• Please avoid restricted or disabled spaces without proper tags.
We’re committed to making music education accessible. We work with students and families to support:
• Physical access needs (mobility, seating, instrument setup)
• Sensory needs (volume, pacing, environment)
• Neurodiverse learning needs (instructional style, communication approach)
If you or your child need accommodations, please reach out to the director before your first lesson so we can prepare.
