What's Your Why

Discover Your Purpose

You are here for a reason. You have been equipped with an incredible and unique set of talents, passions and strengths. You may want to impact the world in a profound way, yet you may not know where to start. Sometimes, the simplest way to get started is to clarify your "Why."

The "What's Your Why" course at Belmont University features a curated series of interviews and activities focused on clarifying your sense of purpose in the world and developing a more holistic view of your future trajectory.

Hear from leaders of purpose representing a variety of industries and vocations as they share their purpose journey and the lessons they've learned along the way. Complete assignments that create a space for deep reflection on who you are and who you want to become. As the course comes to a close, you will assemble a visual representation of your exploration known as your "Journey Showcase."

The course is taught by faculty from across the University and hosted by Belmont President Dr. Greg Jones and his wife, Rev. Susan Pendleton Jones. The course is offered in both a one-credit-hour and a three-credit-hour version. The three-credit-hour version is further divided according to one of five "Purpose Clusters." These clusters shift the focus away from academic majors and toward motivations and skillsets.
