Testing Center

Janet Ayers Academic Center, Room G123

Consistent with our institutional values of integrity, inquiry, collaboration, service and humility, the Belmont University Testing Center supports students and faculty in the assessment of student knowledge. The Testing Center's primary mission is to provide a secure, distraction-reduced space for Belmont students with accommodations. We also serve as a space for retests and missed tests in a limited capacity. All testers must be enrolled at Belmont and sitting for exams given by Belmont faculty and adjuncts.

As our sole function is to provide a safe and secure space, any question or need regarding accessibility scope (i.e. scribes, readers, documentation, etc.) goes through our Office of Accessibility Services. You can contact their office at accessibility.services@belmont.edu.

Summer 26 Proctoring

Proctoring will be available by appointment only. Instructors should email Michael McMurray at michael.mcmurray@belmont.edu and copy testing.center@belmont.edu to coordinate testing requests.

All testing materials, including paper exams and any required passwords, must be submitted via email at least 48 business hours in advance. For example, test materials for a Monday exam are due the previous Thursday, and test materials for a Tuesday exam are due by the previous Friday. This allows time to prepare for student exam appointments.

Paper-based exams will be scanned and returned via email within 24 business hours after completion. The Testing Center will be open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us using the email addresses above.

If the Testing Center is filled at a designated time, we will guarantee a spot in the testing center within 24 hours at a convenient time for your schedule.

Be aware that you will be asked to turn your phone off and place your phone into one of our Faraday bags after check-in and signing in for the duration of the exam.

Please be aware that this is a new process. The following is a helpful breakdown of the most important points of our system, but please check the rest of the site for more specific information.

Test Delivery Student Information

There are two ways to get us the exam or codes to unlock the exam. You may:

1)      Bring down the codes or tests in person 48 hours in advance.

2)      Email the test or code 48 hours in advance to testing.center@belmont.edu. If you choose this method, please include:

  1. Your subject
  2. How many copies you will need
  3. The date you believe testers will be using the center

We will be scanning and emailing completed tests back to professors directly from Michael McMurray. These will be deleted from our email upon confirmation of receipt.

Completed exams will be held onto for the remainder of the semester, and then shredded. If you want your  completed paper test, please email Michael McMurray (michael.mcmurray@belmont.edu).

The student information form will serve as the ticket for entry. EVERY student must have this form (or a sheet with the same information) to use the center. We need ONE form for each student. This information cannot be emailed beforehand or submitted digitally.

Please note: If a student does not have a form or the information detailed there, they will not be allowed to test. Also, even if a student makes an appointment using our TracCloud system, they will still need to bring a student information form with them.

Some helpful tips:

  • As much of the information on the form will not change, please use the word doc and print out multiple forms with the majority of information filled in. That way, you only need change specific testing information.
  • Allow the student to fill out the form. You can then check it and add your signature.
Students: If you are taking an online exam, you must use our laptops. Please have your phone available for two-factor authentication into Canvas. Please keep in mind that readers, text to speech software, scribes, or any other specific items needed for testing beyond a proctor, distraction reduced environment, and time must go through Accessibility Services. The Testing Center is unable to provide scribes or readers.

Appointments

We are now introducing an appointments system for the Testing Center. Appointments can be made using our TracCloud system before 48 hours and up to a month in advance. Appointments are not required during the semester, as we will have space for walk-ins, but if you are nervous about having a spot, please consider making an appointment in advance. Appointments WILL BE REQUIRED for finals, so make sure to make your appointment for those as soon as possible.

To make an appointment, log into belmont.traccloud.com using your Belmont credentials. Click on Scheduling a Testing Appointment, and select your class and your reason. Time options will pop-up, and select a time that works for you and your professor. You should receive an email with an Outlook calendar invite with your appointment details once the appointment is made.

Please note: you still will need a Student Information form, even if you make an appointment!
