FAQs

No. The Testing Center provides proctored space to make alternate exams easier for faculty and students. However, the student and professor may make other arrangements that suit their needs. The Testing Center is an option, not a requirement.

The Testing Center is located on the ground floor of the Janet Ayers Academic Center. If you take the main staircase down to the ground floor and walk through the door, you should walk right into our check-in area. You can also take the north elevators down to the ground floor, go to the right and through the door in the corner to get to our check-in area. For more help, please watch this video.(add link)

Please note that currently the number of computers in our space is limited, so bringing your own laptop is encouraged. If you are unable to do so, we will still try and accommodate you to the best of our ability.

Currently, we are only able to provide proctoring for traditional pencil/paper exams and Canvas exams. Other formats of testing are not available at this time, but there is a plan to offer additional formats as expansion of testing center services occurs in future semesters. If there is a particular type of testing format you would like to see included in the future, please feel free to submit that suggestion to the testing center (testing.center@belmont.edu) or to Brandon Stephens (brandon.stephens@belmont.edu).

Absolutely! The process is the same as all other exams, so if you have a pop quiz with a student who has any sort of accommodation (time and a half for example), you can provide them with the info and the quiz and send them right down!

For pencil/paper tests, Testing Center proctors will arrange the exchange of materials with the professor. For Canvas tests, we highly encourage the use of passwords/access codes and test availability constraints. We also have a camera in the Testing Center to ensure that all examinees are monitored during the exam. The proctor will note any abnormalities with the testing process and communicate those to the professor (e.g., Internet disruption, academic integrity concerns, late arrival, etc.).

For concerns about accommodations, please contact the Office of Accessibility Services at accessibility.services@belmont.edu. For scheduling concerns, please contact the Testing Center directly at testing.center@belmont.edu or Brandon Stephens at brandon.stephens@belmont.edu.
