  • Austin Smalling
Belmont University has given me an amazing opportunity to pursue the sport industry during my years here. The Sport Administration department has allowed me to build connections throughout Nashville and given me a chance to break into the world of college athletics. From studying abroad in Spain and Portugal to participating in multiple internships, the chances to learn and grow have been endless. Here at Belmont, you are surrounded by professors that will continuously invest in you and want to see you succeed. Belmont has allowed me to grow professionally, spiritually, and mentally. I will always be grateful for the amazing connections I have made here.

With experienced faculty and Belmont’s location in the midst of Nashville’s booming sports market, it would be difficult to find another program better equipped to help you achiever your dream career. Belmont’s Sport Administration program works closely with local organizations like the NFL's Tennessee Titans, NHL's Nashville Predators, MLS’ Nashville SC, MiLB’s Nashville Sounds and the Ohio Valley Conference—not to mention our 17 NCAA Division I Belmont Athletic teams—on projects, research and internships.

Students in the program receive a thorough overview of the critical aspects to this unique industry including sociocultural dimensions, management and leadership, ethics, communication, finance and legal aspects of sport. By combining classroom knowledge, skill development and practical experience, students are well prepared for a career following their passions. Core classes in sport finance, leadership, legal issues, administration and globalization of sport are required, while electives offered include options such as sports production, media advertising and sales, sport public relations and organizational communication to name a few.

Belmont’s Sports Administration major or minor offers a path for students to become sports professionals in diverse array of career opportunities. We truly believe our faculty, curriculum and connection to the Nashville sports market provide a world-class experience in sport administration education. Students who want to further their studies after completion of the undergraduate program can also pursue a Master of Sport Administration program.
