About Us

Belmont Collaborative for Health Systems Innovation

Revolutionizing Healthcare Through Systems Innovation

Health Systems Science (HSS) is a dynamic, multidisciplinary field that examines how healthcare systems function—and how they can be transformed to improve patient outcomes. At the Belmont Collaborative for Health Systems Innovation, we recognize that healthcare is not one-size-fits-all, especially from the patient’s perspective. Every journey through the healthcare system is unique, and shaped by policies, economics, technology, and social factors. That’s why we focus on **"Systems"—plural—**to emphasize the diversity of healthcare experiences and the need for adaptable, responsive solutions.

Belmont University’s Commitment to Health Systems Science

At Belmont’s Thomas F. Frist College of Medicine (FCoM), we are leading a bold, transformative approach to Health Systems Science—one that breaks down silos and unites healthcare, business, technology, and policy to drive meaningful change. Our work extends beyond our campus, engaging a broad coalition of partners across medicine, public health, law, and technology to create real-world solutions.

We believe that improving healthcare requires more than great clinical care—it demands a deep understanding of the systems that shape patient experiences. That’s why we integrate interprofessional collaboration, cutting-edge research, and innovative education to prepare leaders who can reimagine and improve healthcare delivery at every level.

What We Offer to Partners & Stakeholders

Our Collaborative is more than a research center—it’s a catalyst for action. We work with industry leaders, policymakers, and frontline healthcare professionals to:

  • Improve population health and wellness.
  • Reimagine payment and reimbursement models to align incentives with better care.
  • Optimize healthcare access and delivery with a patient-first perspective.
  • Leverage AI and informatics to enhance reliability and prevent disease progression.
  • Break down silos, fostering collaboration for whole-person, patient-centered care.

Innovation, Education & Impact

We are building an open-source Innovation Collaborative, bringing together thought leaders to drive discovery, research, and real-world impact. Our educational initiatives span students, healthcare leaders, and communities, ensuring that lifelong learning fuels healthcare transformation. Through publications, white papers, media outreach, and transparent communication, we ensure that innovation leads to action.

Our Focus: Two Transformative Perspectives

We aim to study, implement, and scale solutions that reshape healthcare by focusing on:

Empowering Frontline Professionals and Patient

We explore how innovation, technology, and system improvements can amplify the effectiveness of healthcare providers while making healthcare more accessible and navigable for patients.

Transforming the Whole-Person Health Journey

We study how healthcare innovations impact people over time, identifying best practices that lead to sustained improvements in patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Join Us in Shaping the Future of Healthcare

The Belmont Collaborative for Health Systems Innovation is a hub for bold ideas and transformative solutions. We welcome partnerships, collaborations, and conversations with those who share our vision of a smarter, more compassionate, and patient-centered healthcare system.
