The Workshop Series

A workshop on the Strategic Task of Time Management & Effective Delegation

We all struggle with time management. Learning to balance and schedule our time is an important task to learn for effective leadership. One possible solution for our scheduling dilemma is learning to delegate. Unfortunately, many of us struggle with issues like learning to trust coworkers and knowing which projects can be shared with someone else. We fight the urge to be in control and micromanage every phase of our work. This workshop will examine the strategic task of time management and effective delegation. We will offer some ideas, insights, and practical suggestions that can help you to be a more productive leader.

Recognizing Trauma and Its Lasting Effects

Many care providers, both in the Health Care industry and in the world of Ministry, understand the increasing importance of offering Trauma-Informed care to patients and congregants.  Trauma-informed care shifts the focus from “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”  Trauma-informed care seeks to realize the widespread impact of trauma and understand paths for recovery; recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma in patients, families, and staff; and actively avoid re-traumatization. Our workshop will explore the topic of trauma-informed care and how faith-leaders and other professionals can begin to recognize the role trauma plays and its affect in the lives of others.

A workshop focused on the discovery of hidden blind spots & biases that affect our perceptions, actions, and attitudes towards others

Is it possible that we are blind to some of our prejudices and biases? Are there hidden  “blind spots” in our minds that might influence how we treat others or how we approach a particular topic? Do our actions always reflect well-informed, carefully thought-out, decision-making processes, or do we harbor secret attitudes about age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, etc. that are hidden deeply within ourselves? This workshop, based on The New York Times bestseller Blind Spot (Banaji & Greenwald), will help participants discover and explore some of their hidden biases and hopefully offer some ways of effectively dealing with those blind spots.
