Executive Certificate in Faith Leadership

Rev. Charlie Curb Center for Faith Leadership

Practical. Personal. Powerful.

The Executive Certificate Program in Faith Leadership

Offered by The. Rev. Charlie Curb Center at Belmont University

The Executive Certificate Program in Faith Leadership is designed to provide faith leaders who are already serving in various ministerial roles, the tools needed to gain greater effectiveness in leadership by offering courses that will sharpen, equip, and update earlier educational experiences.  Over the course of 8 months, participants will study, reflect, and learn in a unique limited-cohort experience.  Classes will be held on the campus of Belmont University on the first Monday evening of each month September through April.  Unique courses will be taught monthly in a 3 ½ hour format throughout the fall and spring semesters.

By design, the program is very practical in nature.  The program listed will focus on both personal health and well-being insights, along with practical skill set development.  The program is also personal.  The cohort size is limited to 12 participants.  Part of the learning experience will be the building of new relationships and perspectives as the group moves through the coursework.  The program is also powerful.  Each participant will develop tools and insights to aid not only in personal development but in practical use in ministry.  The $99 tuition fee covers the entire 8-month program including materials, books, and other resources.

Sometimes the best learning takes place in collaboration with others.  Whenever participants offer their best insights, approaches, and thoughts around a table, collaborative learning occurs. Participants gain wisdom, perspective, and new ideas through meaningful and thoughtful conversations.  For example, remember the old potluck supper days at church?  Each family brought their best dish or casserole to be shared, and when offered alongside of what others had brought, the meal became a joyful feast.  The idea of such table collaboration is at the heart of The Collaborative Cohort experience.  Each member of the cohort will bring their unique perspective and experience about various topics and the result will be a truly rich, learning experience.

Rather than coursework involving a professor or thought leader, a “topic of the month” will be pre-selected and sent to the cohort.  Topics could range from a timely leadership discussion, a book study, a current event, a theological position, or even a Biblical passage that speaks to culture and community.  The cohort, in essence, becomes a theological, philosophical, and relational think-tank.  Each participant will be asked to research the particular topic during the preceding month and be prepared to bring thoughts, content, articles, etc. to the group.  Prior to the monthly session, conversation-starting questions will be sent to the cohort as potential discussion starters.

By design, the program will invite maximum participation and dialogue among those seated at the table.  The cohort will be limited to 12 participants to ensure an intimate group dynamic.  A simple supper will be provided each month at the beginning of the session.  The cost for the entire program is $99.  (The cost has been offset by generous donations to the Rev. Charlie Curb Center for Faith Leadership.)
