Major: Musical Theatre

My experience with Belmont New York City has been extremely valuable to my professional development. As a Musical Theatre major, I was able to maximize my education through in-person dance and acting classes, where I trained and performed alongside both industry professionals and other emerging artists. These experiences challenged me to step outside of my comfort zone. One of the most meaningful changes I noticed was in the audition room. I became more comfortable being myself and I learned to trust my preparation instead of overthinking the process. Through this experience, I gained a greater confidence and found myself becoming a more relaxed and authentic performer. I was also able to connect with alumni and learn from their experiences which has made the thought of moving back to NYC post-graduation feel more attainable.

I was initially apprehensive about leaving Nashville and losing the momentum I had built there. However, spending a semester in NYC with Belmont had always been a part of my college plan, and I am so grateful I followed through with it. Throughout the semester, I strengthened my ability to be intentional with my relationships in Nashville, with my cohort and others I met while in the city. I lived by the motto “YOLO!” and while it may sound cliché, it encouraged me to say “yes" to as many opportunities as I could. Through these experiences, I grew both personally and professionally. This program allowed me to build on the momentum I had created in Nashville while immersing myself in a new culture, forming new friendships and embracing new experiences. I am so grateful that I said “yes” to Belmont New York City.

Belmont New York City was a life-changing experience in ways that I could never have imagined. Living in NYC allowed me to explore a city that I had always dreamed of living in while discovering new possibilities for my future. Through film premieres, Q&A sessions, late-night show tapings, and other industry experiences, I was able to connect my Music Business degree with my passions for film and writing in ways I hadn’t yet thought of. I feel as if I have lived a million lifetimes in this semester and I am now more inspired to dream bigger and have a clearer vision for my career. I left NYC with lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories and an excitement to return to the city that now feels like home.

Major: Theatre Performance

Belmont New York City opened my eyes to all the possibilities the city has to oRer, while having the safety net of Belmont. As a Theatre Performance student, I had the unique opportunity to take inperson classes taught by industry professionals while also interning in the field. I fell in love with New York getting to live there for four months and I made so many meaningful connections through both extraordinary and everyday experiences. During my semester away, I gained even more confidence in myself, what I want to do post-grad and how I am going to navigate that life. Belmont NYC has been, by far, my absolute favorite semester at Belmont.

My semester in New York City was life-changing. As a double major in Media & Entertainment Industries and Theatre & Drama, I explored two distinct sides of the theatre industry through my internships. At Stewart Talent, I assisted with casting breakdowns, while my role with The Nederlander Organization’s Group Sales team allowed me to engage directly with one of the largest Broadway-producing companies.

For my entire life, living in NYC felt like a dream. The glamour and energy of the city seemed somewhat unobtainable, but Belmont New York City gave me the opportunity to turn my dream into a reality. Before moving, I was intentional about cultivating discipline in my personal, professional, and academic life because I knew that I couldn’t expect to thrive while uprooting my life to move to the most populated and ever-changing city in the country without prioritizing my mental, physical, and academic well-being. My time in NYC has permanently shaped me and has given me a greater sense of agency to pursue the life I want. I have fallen in love with this city, and I know I will never be the same because of my experience here.

Belmont New York City was a pivotal bridge between my Music Business studies and my goal of becoming an Artist Manager or A&R Agent. My semester in New York was a masterclass in independence. I navigated the city’s fast-paced environment, balanced two internships – where I gained high-level, real-world insight into artist development that sharpened my professional focus - and overcame obstacles on my own. Through this experience I became more resilient and confident in my professional abilities. I not only grew my resume but also expanded my personal network and changed how I see myself. Beyond the career advancement, spending a semester in NYC fulfilled my goal of exploring life outside the Nashville campus, making it a defining and unforgettable chapter of my college experience!

During this semester, I strengthened my confidence, expanded my industry knowledge and confirmed my passion for pursuing a career in fashion within marketing, branding, showroom or agency work. Beyond academics and career goals, living in NYC also enriched my overall college experience by pushing me to become more independent, adaptable, and proactive. I entered Belmont New York City with so many dreams and aspirations and my semester away exceeded every expectation. The city restored a fire inside of me as I experienced so many unforgettable experiences from standing in line for SNL tickets, networking with alumni, gaining industry insight through my internship and seeing Broadway shows. I have never been so terrified in my life as the day I drove into the city, and I have never been so sad to leave a place as I was the day I moved out! Spending a semester in New York City as a Fashion Design major solidified my desire to build a career in this industry. While in NYC, I interned at a design studio in the Garment District, worked both New York Fashion Week and New York Bridal Fashion Week, and volunteered at FABSCRAP. This non-profit diverts commercial textile waste from landfills. In addition to growing professionally, I explored the city’s entertainment scene by attending live TV show tapings, Broadway shows, and discovering some of the best places to eat! This experience changed me for the better by making me more independent, teaching me how to navigate challenges, and giving me the confidence to make decisions on my own.

Belmont New York City was the perfect addition to my college experience. Although I loved my time on the Nashville campus, spending a semester in NYC challenged me in the best way and gave me the excitement of experiencing something completely new while having a built-in support system through Belmont staR and my cohort. There is something truly special about NYC – it’s magical, chaotic, inspiring and full of endless possibilities. Over the course of four months, I grew personally, professionally and spiritually as I uncovered so many diRerent sides of the city. Living in NYC for a semester was the highlight of my Belmont education and made me extremely excited to move back to the city post-grad. As a performer, I leveled up my acting and dance capabilities through top-notch training and professional guidance. As a student, I proved to myself that I can handle a demanding workload and still achieve good grades. As a human, I developed stronger communication, emotional management and social skills that helped me discover the best version of myself. I am so glad that I took advantage of exploring this city with the incredible support system provided by Belmont.

My experience in this program has been incredibly rewarding and transformative. Since my freshman year, I had dreamed of spending a semester living in New York through Belmont USA, and it exceeded everything I had hoped for and more. My supervisor told me, "Don’t be afraid to spread your wings," and I took that advice to heart by embracing every opportunity that came my way. I explored new neighborhoods, tried new things, attended exciting pop-ups, industry events, and built meaningful connections. Along the way, I discovered all that I am capable of. I left NYC more confident, inspired and excited to explore the possibility of returning after graduation.
