“Spending a semester in New York City has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. Known as the publishing capital of the world, I have always recognized the importance of building meaningful professional relationships in New York City. During my time here, I connected with professionals across multiple Big Five publishing houses and significantly strengthened my communication skills and confidence in professional settings. In addition to living in such a fast-paced environment with endless opportunities I also learned how to make space for myself, become more financially responsible, and fully enjoy experiences beyond my academic responsibilities. I now feel more prepared than ever to graduate and begin my full-time career.”

“Belmont New York City felt less like a program and more like stepping directly into real life. From the moment I arrived, the city began opening itself to me through relationships—one connection leading to another until I found myself immersed in creative communities I didn’t even know existed. Working as an intern at the Blue Note Jazz Club grounded me in a space where music history and living culture intersect.

Living in New York pushed me far beyond the traditional college bubble. I worked two jobs, built relationships with people outside of a university setting, and learned how to navigate a city. Being surrounded by New York’s expansive creative scene across music, fashion, film, and art, broadened my perspective and helped me narrow my own career goals.

More than anything, this experience transformed me personally. In just five months, my confidence grew exponentially. I gained clarity about who I am, what I care about, and where I’m headed. I learned that I belong in creative spaces that once felt out of reach and discovered how deeply I thrive when surrounded by inspiring, driven people. Leaving New York was difficult because of the life and relationships I built there—but that’s how I know the experience worked. Belmont New York City gave me confidence, community, and a sense of place that I will carry with me long after returning home.”

“My semester in New York City was life changing. As a double major in Media & Entertainment Industries and Theatre & Drama, I explored two distinct sides of the theatre industry through my internships. At Stewart Talent, I assisted with casting breakdowns, while my role with The Nederlander Organization’s Group Sales team allowed me to engage directly with one of the largest Broadway-producing companies.

Beyond professional growth, Belmont NYC pushed me to rediscover the resilient and driven version of myself. I embraced independence, faced challenges head-on, and accomplished things I once thought were out of reach—including training for and completing the Brooklyn Marathon. Through every early morning, challenge, and milestone, I gained grit, confidence, and lifelong friendships. While moving to New York was initially intimidating, the support and honesty of Belmont USA ambassadors prepared me for success. I hope to give back by supporting future students as they take on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

“Participating in Belmont New York City was truly one of the most impactful experiences of my life. While I expected to enjoy my semester away, I did not anticipate the amount of growth I would experience both personally and professionally. Throughout my semester, I built meaningful friendships, developed valuable industry connections, and learned how to be comfortable spending time alone while being intentional with that independence.

This experience gave me clarity around my career goals, a deeper understanding of what I value in a work environment and pushed me to discover a new level of motivation and work ethic that I know I will carry with me post-graduation. I highly encourage Belmont students to participate in this program—it was truly life-changing.”

“The Belmont NYC program gave me the chance to see what living in New York City could be like. I gained hands-on work experience at SoHo Playhouse, an Off-Broadway theatre. Through this internship, I worked in the box office, helped maintain costumes by cleaning, steaming, resetting pieces and designed and edited social media content.

Beyond my professional experiences, the program allowed me to immerse myself in the arts that inspired me. Seeing Hugh Jackman perform at Radio City with some members of my cohort was one I will never forget. While the extraordinary moments were unforgettable, the ordinary ones were just as meaningful. Riding the subway, doing homework in a park or coffee shop, and simply walking through the city showed me how even everyday life in New York can feel magical.

This experience gave me new friendships, valuable insight into my industry, a glimpse into post-graduate life, and a renewed sense of confidence and gratitude.”

“My time in New York City has been one of the most formative chapters of my life! I am incredibly grateful for my internship experiences at Wasserman Music and JONESWORKS PR. Within their touring and sports/entertainment departments, I gained valuable hands-on insight into the entertainment industry and a stronger understanding of the professional world that I aspire to be a part of. In addition, Belmont NYC provided unique opportunities to connect with industry professionals in an up-close and personal way, which played a significant role in my career growth.

Beyond professional development, New York City overflows with fun pop culture and entertainment opportunities that allowed me to experience what I love firsthand. I attended multiple Broadway shows, the Hamilton film premiere, Wicked events, the VMAs, the U.S. Open, the Drew Barrymore Show, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade - just to name a few. These experiences further solidified my passion for entertainment.

While in New York, I made the big decision to apply to law school; a milestone that required a level of confidence that I believe NYC helped instill in me. During my semester away, I became more independent, self-assured, and focused on my goal of pursuing a career in entertainment law. New York City taught me to trust myself, believe in my abilities, and feel capable standing on my own. Fall 2025 was such an unforgettable  semester. I’ll always be grateful for Belmont USA.”

“Living in New York City has been a dream of mine since I was young, and Belmont New York City made that dream a reality. This experience allowed me to test the waters and see whether New York is a place I could envision myself living after graduation, all while providing countless once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.

While I’ve always considered myself independent, living in New York pushed that independence to a new level. It challenged me to navigate a fast-paced environment while remaining grounded. I met so many people, both through the program and strangers I encountered throughout the city, all of which influenced me in unique ways. During my time in New York, I checked off bucket-list items, garnered industry connections, shaped my professional goals, tried countless cafes, and even met some of my favorite musicians. I am incredibly grateful for this experience and everything it gave me.”

"Belmont New York City feels like pure magic wrapped into a semester.

It’s hard not to romanticize life as a coming-of-age movie when your morning coffee run includes walking past Manhattan’s skyline over the water, taking the train to Grand Central for your internship and passing countless dogs in sweaters and shoes along the way.

As cliché as it is, the possibilities in this city truly feel endless. There are so many people to meet, coffee shops to try, experiences to learn from, and infinite opportunities for growth.

Belmont New York City taught me to navigate the balance between stepping out of my comfort zone socially and embracing the independence of solo adventures. The constant support from the Belmont USA staff, my peers, and local alumni has been invaluable to both my professional and personal growth this semester. This program was everything it promised itself to be – irreplaceable experiential learning in the heart of the city."

"Studying away in New York gave me the chance to expand my network and build meaningful connections with studios and engineers. I interned at a small recording studio in Brooklyn, where the intimate environment allowed me to connect more deeply with both coworkers and clients, making the experience even more valuable.

This semester wasn’t just a period of professional growth—it was a time of deep personal development as well. While college had already encouraged my independence, living in the heart of a major city taught me how to truly navigate life on my own. Some of my most fulfilling moments came from exploring New York solo, embracing the freedom to follow my own interests and discovering the city at my own pace. That independence helped me grow in ways I never anticipated and pushed me well beyond my comfort zone.

I plan to move back to New York after graduation, and I’m grateful to have had the chance to build intentional, lasting relationships that I can continue to nurture before and after I return."

"I chose to study in New York City because I was eager to gain a fresh perspective on how the music industry operates outside of Nashville.

Living in NYC was an incredible experience—not just because of the city itself, but also because the industry runs so differently there. It challenged and broadened my understanding in the best way. The program’s asynchronous classes fit seamlessly into my schedule, allowing me to fully commit to my internship and explore new opportunities within the music industry. That flexibility made a huge difference in what I was able to accomplish.

One of the most valuable things I took away from this experience was learning how to be on my own—in the best, most empowering way. Doing things solo in New York is not only easy, it’s encouraged. Embracing that independence helped me build confidence in both my personal and professional life.

While my time in NYC was transformative, it also gave me clarity: Nashville is where I want to be after graduation. I’m incredibly grateful for the insight I gained in New York, and even more thankful that I was able to discover what truly feels right for me before making any long-term decisions."

Living and studying in New York City proved to be one of the most influential experiences of my life. During my time there, I formed meaningful relationships with fellow students in my cohort, sharpened my time management skills and discovered a more creative, confident version of myself. "I plan to pursue acting and theatre in NYC after graduation, so spending this past fall in New York City was a crucial part of both my academic and life plans. It gave me a glimpse of post-grad life while still having the support of Belmont. The most valuable skill I gained during my time in NYC was learning how to network effectively. Before my semester away, I was hesitant to reach out to people, fearing they wouldn’t want to talk to me or that they might think I was only looking to benefit from the interaction. However, Belmont East provided countless opportunities to connect with Belmont alumni and other industry professionals through the Entertainment and Culture of NYC class. They were incredibly kind and eager to share their insights into the industry. Belmont East was undoubtedly the best semester of my Belmont career. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities, experiences, and connections I was able to make. I can't wait to return to New York City as soon as I graduate."

"My decision to attend Belmont was largely influenced by my knowledge of the Belmont USA program and its unique opportunities.

As a working dancer and freelance artist, I have always dreamed of living in either New York City or Los Angeles. However, the cost of attending school in either city made that path feel out of reach. Belmont USA presented a credible, low-risk launch pad to explore both coasts while staying connected to my academic goals.

During my junior year, I participated in the NYC (Fall '24) and LA (Spring '25) programs. These experiences brought clarity to my creative direction and helped shape my vision for the future.

In both cities, I joined training programs solo. By the end, I met chosen family—creative collaborators and close friends who share my passions and push me to grow. It helped me learn, firsthand, the importance of community within the industry.

I now feel confident not only in my understanding of the industry, but also in my ability to independently navigate life in these cities. These programs made me a more grounded, driven and resilient person."

"As a Musical Theatre major, spending a semester in New York City and learning from seasoned professionals at Broadway Dance Center and The Barrow Group—while fully immersing myself in the world I’ve always dreamed of—has been everything I hoped for and more.

This experience has deepened my understanding of the industry I’m preparing to enter. From navigating auditions to building meaningful relationships with mentors and instructors, and adapting to life in a fast-paced, vibrant city like New York, I’ve learned to soak up knowledge, techniques and inspiration like a sponge. I now trust myself more than ever to embrace all I have learned and soar higher than ever.

To anyone considering this program: if your heart is drawn to this city, follow it. Believe in yourself. There’s no better time than now—while you're still supported by the structure of Belmont—to take bold steps, explore new paths, and grow in ways you never imagined.

I've never felt more prepared to return to Nashville, complete my senior year and pursue a successful career post-graduation. I’m leaving this program with more knowledge and confidence than I could have imagined, and I’m endlessly grateful.
