Advancing Belmont University’s Christ-centered mission through faith-based initiatives, spiritual formation, and campus-wide collaboration

Advancing Our Mission

The Office for University Missional Initiatives at Belmont connects, equips and strengthens programs across campus which nurture engagement with Belmont’s ecumenical, Christ-centered identity, mission and vision and SOUL framework.

Our Work

The office supports Deans, Vice Presidents and other program leaders across campus as they nurture a culture of hope, unity, belonging and spiritual growth within their units, and offers a variety of learning and formation programs sponsored by:

These offices, in turn, engage a larger network of colleagues across the university’s 12 colleges and Student Formation

This dynamic network of offices and initiatives engages students, staff, faculty and external partners by exploring the rich intersections of spiritual and cultural wellness, promoting love of God and neighbor and inviting prayerful engagement with the Peace Prayer “Lord, Make Us Instruments of Your Peace.”

The Office of University Missional Initiatives is led by Dr. John Witvliet, who serves as Chief Officer for University Missional Initiatives and as Professor of Theology, Worship & the Arts
