The Office of Medical Education and Faculty Success oversees all faculty affairs, development and governance-related matters within the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine. The Office supports faculty members, departments, and programs to advance the teaching, research, patient care, and service missions of the FCoM by:

  • Assisting departments in recruiting, developing, promoting and retaining outstanding faculty
  • Assisting faculty, department chairs and leaders in understanding and complying with the policies and procedures of the University and the FCoM
  • Developing and implementing practices that promote diversity, professionalism, collaboration and academic integrity across the FCoM
  • Developing and implementing policies and practices to ensure fair and consistent treatment of faculty according to the rules of the University and the FCoM
  • Implementing policies and practices to build and sustain faculty vitality and success through faculty development, mentorship, leadership training, and resiliency
  • Cultivating and maintaining a comprehensive annual faculty evaluation and first, third, and fifth-year review system
  • Encouraging faculty members to participate in the shared governance of the FCoM
  • Conducting periodic faculty assessment surveys to measure faculty satisfaction, career success, wellness, and burnout and implement programs to address challenges and guide change
  • Providing administrative support for faculty appointments, promotions, tenure awards, post-tenure and annual performance reviews, and other activities
