These non-profits realize that it will take more than human ingenuity to solve intractable, complex problems; it will take a comprehensive vision of God and the nature and purpose of the world to build sustainable and transformational enterprises.   • Build-A-Bruin

    Students, faculty and staff are invited to “Build-A-Bruin” throughout Homecoming Week. The Office of Student Engagement will have bears available for pickup in the Beaman Student Life Center from noon to 4:30 on Monday. Photos of submitted bears will be available online and voted on via social media. All bears will be donated at the end of Homecoming Week. 

  • Holistic (Under)Development Through Sport and (Mis)Education

    Dr. Joseph Cooper, J. Keith Motley Endowed Chair of Sport Leadership and Administration and Special Advisor to the Chancellor for Black Life at the University of Massachusetts Boston, is an expert in race, racism, oppression, and activism in sport and on college campuses. He will deliver a talk entitled "Holistic (Under)Development Through Sport and (Mis)Education". The presentation will explore conditions that influence Black male holistic athletes' experiences and outcomes in exploitative sporting and schooling spaces compared to empowering sporting and educational environments.

    Rev. Gabriel Salguero is the president of the National Latino Evangelical Coalition and has been named one of the nation’s most prominent Latino evangelical leaders by the New York Times, CNN, NBC, and Univisión for his work on immigration, criminal justice reform, and racism. He has served on the White House Faith-Based Advisory Council and as Director of the Institute for Faith and Public Life at Princeton Seminary. Watch the chapel livestream here

    Dr. Victoria Lim was a non-religious Belmont student and Dr. Steve Robinson was her physics professor. They began a three-year conversation about God and life that continued as Victoria earned her Ph.D. Neither came easily to faith, as their scientific training and worldview made belief difficult. Wherever you are on your journey of faith—from disbelief to curiosity to devotion to Christ—you will be moved by the dialogue that led them to write a book wrestling with humanity's biggest questions and their search for meaningful answers. Watch the chapel livestream here

    Join us for our inaugural spirit parade starting from Freedom Plaza. The theme for this year’s parade is “Let Hope Abound.” Student organizations can register to build a float here. There will be two $500 cash prizes awarded to the organization or residence hall that best reflects the theme of Let Hope Abound.

  • Dr. Robert E. Simmons Distinguished Faculty Lecture

    This lectureship was created by Dean Robert Simmons in 1988 to honor the research and scholarly work of the faculty in the School of Humanities and Education. After his death, the lectureship was named in his honor. After the formation of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, the award is now granted to a faculty member in CLASS. The recipients are selected based on their high level of teaching and scholarly accomplishments. Our speaker this year will be Dr. Christie Kleinmann.
