eSports comes to Belmont's newest residence hall in Fall 2025

Belmont University’s newest residence hall, opening in Fall 2025, will feature a cutting-edge eSports space designed to elevate student life and foster community. The facility will include 25 high-performance PC gaming stations, a shoutcasting station for streaming competitions, and the ability to host both LAN and virtual tournaments. A lounge area will provide space for console gaming, complemented by ten 80" TVs to broadcast competitions, gaming sessions, and watch parties. Whether competing, streaming, or relaxing with friends, the eSports space will be a dynamic hub for connection and engagement.

Information about the eSports Lounge

The eSports Lounge will open on Thursday, September 4th at 6 PM and semester hours of operation will be announced soon.

  • eSports Studio will mimic FitRec hours on weekends.
  • Modified hours will occur during university breaks, holidays, summer session, major weather events, and final exams. These will be posted in advance.
  • No entry will be permitted within 15 minutes of closing time.

How to Reserve PCs:

  1. Go to the Belmont ggCircuit booking page: https://centers.ggcircuit.com/belmont
  2. Use the calendar to pick your preferred date and time slot.
  3. Select the number of stations by clicking the plus (+) or minus (–) buttons (up to 6 stations).
  4. Log in with your Belmont student account to continue.
  5. Review and confirm your reservation.
  6. Check your email for a confirmation message with your booking details and a One-Time Password (OTP).
  7. When you arrive at the Esports Studio, enter your OTP on the PC to start your session.

Policies and Procedures

The Belmont eSports Studio, under the purview of FitRec, is dedicated to creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all members of the University community.

The Department of Fitness and Recreation upholds Belmont’s Community Commitments, as well as the policies outlined in the Bruin Guide and the Faculty and Staff Handbooks.  Any behavior that conflicts with the University’s mission or violates these policies will be addressed appropriately. When necessary, individuals may be referred to the relevant campus department for further action.

The following eSports Studio policies and code of conduct are designed to ensure that every member of the campus community has a positive and enjoyable experience.

Access Policies

  •  The eSports Studio is available exclusively to currently enrolled Belmont students, faculty, and staff free of charge.
  • Guests are permitted and must purchase a day pass at the FitRec Front Desk located in the Beaman Student Life Center. Guests under the age of 16 are not permitted.
  • Access to the eSports Studio is granted through a staffed entrance. Members must present a valid Belmont-issued ID card or use the FitRec On The Go application.
  • The studio has a maximum occupancy limit; once reached, additional patrons will not be admitted until space becomes available
  • Any attempt to gain access by unauthorized means may result in disciplinary action, including—but not limited to—suspension of access and/or referral to the Community Accountability Office.
  • Individuals found using someone else’s Belmont ID will be denied entry, and the ID will be confiscated. The person whose name appears on the ID will have their access suspended and must schedule a meeting with a member of the eSports professional staff. Additional consequences may follow in accordance with University policies and procedures.
  • Guest passes can be purchased for $15 at the front desk in the Beaman Center and redeemed at the eSports desk.  The eSports Lounge is unable to take payments at this time. 

Safety

  • In case of an emergency, patrons must follow staff instructions and evacuation procedures posted in the studio
  • Emergency exits are clearly marked; patrons should familiarize themselves with exit routes upon entering the studio.
  • Any injuries, accidents, or unsafe conditions must be reported to staff immediately.

Accessibility and Safety

  •  Service animals are permitted and must remain accompanied at all times.
  • Rollerblades, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, hoverboards, and similar personal transportation devices are not allowed in the arena.

Respect and Community Standards

  •  All patrons are expected to treat others with respect and courtesy, contributing to a positive and inclusive environment for everyone.
  • The eSports staff enforces Belmont’s Community Commitments and all policies outlined in the Bruin Guide and Faculty and Staff Handbooks. Any behavior that violates these standards will be addressed appropriately and may be referred to the relevant campus department for further action.
  • Patrons representing Belmont University in competitions or online content must do so in a manner consistent with University values and policies

Behavior and Sportsmanship

  • Toxic behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Threats of violence
    • Lewd, obscene, or profane language, comments, or gestures
    • Stalking, bullying, or intimidation
    • Physical altercations
    • “Rage quitting” or other disruptive conduct
  • Poor sportsmanship directed at other patrons is unacceptable and may result in disciplinary action.
  • Cheating or engaging in any illegal activity in or around the studio may lead to University disciplinary measures and potential legal consequences.
  • Harassment or discrimination of any kind, including based on race, gender, or identity, will not be tolerated.

  • Food is not permitted in the PC gaming area. It must be consumed at designated tables in the studio or in the Wiseman Hall lobby.
  • Drink containers must be stored on the floor, away from gaming equipment.
  • Personal items must be always kept under your gaming station.
  • Fitness and Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen personal belongings. Items found or turned in to staff will be documented and stored onsite for two weeks before disposal.

  • A mouse, keyboard, and headset are provided at each gaming station.
  • Patrons may use personal peripherals, but all stations must be returned to their original setup after use.
  • Students must notify staff of any damaged or malfunctioning equipment before using it.
  • All equipment must remain within the eSports Studio.
  • Patrons are responsible for the care of all equipment. Any damage due to misuse may result in repair or replacement charges.
  • Gaming stations must be left clean and ready for the next user after each session.

Use of Equipment and Facilities

  •  The computers and gaming equipment are to be used exclusively for gaming. Attempting to use them for other purposes is prohibited.
  • For safety and equipment integrity, patrons should not plug in personal devices or disconnect any existing equipment.
  • Damaging or tampering with any property in or around the eSports Studio is strictly forbidden and may result in disciplinary action.
  • Personal login credentials must be protected; patrons are responsible for logging out of all accounts before leaving a station.

Access and Platform Use

  •  PC gaming stations and console gaming bays are available on a first-come, first-served basis if there is no prior reservation.
  • PC gaming stations can be reserved using the online booking system ahead of time.
  • Reservations will be forfeited after a 5-minute grace period.
  • The eSports Arena uses ggLeap as its PC gaming management platform. All game access is managed through this system.
  • Patrons must use their Belmont student credentials to login and use the PCs.
  • Patrons may access a variety of free games and a limited number of paid game licenses provided by the eSports Studio.
  • Access to personal game licenses is permitted through ggLeap, personal account login into sites like Epic, Xbox Game Launcher and Steam is required.
  • Spectators are welcome provided they do not interfere with gameplay, equipment, or staff operations

 Gameplay Time Limits

  •  PC Stations: Each patron is allowed a set 90 minutes of gameplay per session, with the option to extend for an additional 90 minutes if no other patrons are waiting.
  • Console Gaming Bays: Each bay may be used for up to 90 minutes per session, with the option to extend for an additional 90 minutes if no other patrons are waiting.
  • Patrons are expected to vacate their station or bay once their allotted time has ended for the day.
  • Extended playtime may be granted at staff discretion during low-traffic periods

 Gaming Equipment Checkout Policies

  • Gaming console controllers are available for checkout at no cost from eSports Studio staff for use within the studio only.
  • Equipment is issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Patrons are responsible for the proper care and return of all equipment they check out. Any damage or loss resulting from misuse will result in the individual responsible being charged for repair or replacement costs.
  • All checkout items must be returned promptly at the end of the session; late returns may result in temporary suspension of equipment privileges.
