What to Expect at Belmont Commencement: A Guide for Guests

We are thrilled to celebrate your student's achievement with you at their Belmont Commencement ceremony! All ceremonies will be held in-person at the Curb Event Center. Degree candidates will proudly process in at the start of the ceremony and have their names announced as they walk across the stage.

Arrival and Check-In:

  • Degree candidates should arrive one hour prior to the ceremony and enter through the Beaman Student Life Center North Lobby (by the Bell Tower and Rit-Rec) for check-in and lining up for the processional. Cap and gown are required.
  • Guests may enter the Curb Event Center through the Maddox Grand Atrium up to one hour prior to the ceremony's start.

Accessibility Information:

We are committed to providing an accessible and comfortable Commencement experience for all guests.

Guests who require accessible features or accommodations may enter the Curb Event Center through either the Maddox Grand Atrium entrance via the Curb Garage or the West Lobby of the Beaman Student Life Center, located at the designated accessible drop‑off and pick‑up area on Belmont Boulevard in front of Chick‑fil‑A. Both routes offer step‑free, accessible entry.

All campus parking garages are equipped with elevators to support accessible access. For guests who benefit from more immediate access, the designated drop‑off and pick‑up location on Belmont Boulevard provides a convenient option for unloading passengers near the Curb Event Center. This area will be clearly marked with signage and staffed by university personnel to assist with traffic flow and guest safety. Drivers should remain with their vehicles during drop‑off, as parking is not permitted in this location. After unloading passengers, vehicles should proceed to one of the campus parking garages. This same location may be used for pick‑up following the ceremony.

Commencement seating is general admission, with accessible seating available on the concourse level of the Curb Event Center for guests who use wheelchairs, mobility devices, or prefer seating with step‑free access. Typically, one to two additional guests may sit with an individual using accessible seating. Ushers are available to assist with adjusting seating along the concourse as needed, including removing chairs to accommodate wheelchairs or other mobility devices. Advance notification of accessible seating needs is not required.
