Belmont’s Guiding Principles on AI

Psalm 8 AI Task Force Summary

To establish Belmont’s stance on Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Psalm 8 Task Force was convened to develop a set of guiding principles outlining the university's engagement with AI. The document acknowledges the important role AI plays in contemporary society and affirms the belief that human beings, created in the image of God, cannot be supplanted by synthetic intelligence. The task force’s designation draws upon Belmont’s affirmation of God as Creator, thus its reference as the “Psalm 8 Task Force.” The resulting principles are intended to provide a strategic framework for all members of the Belmont community as they interact with AI technologies.
