BDAIC AI Workshops!
September 10th, 2025: Dr. Jeff Donahoo
The browser is fine for just browsing, but terrible at getting things done. Typical workflow: Search, follow links in 20 different tabs, try to figure out which are relevant and how while being bullied by ads, get distracted by a bunny video, synthesize your own answer, and execute your own plan. Browsing means you do the work. Let's explore a new paradigm: the AI Browser. We will examine how integrating AI transforms the browser from a mere window for viewing into an active agent. Discover its potential, from generating content to orchestrating complex, multi-step operations across various web services, fundamentally changing how we interact with the digital world.

This interactive workshop explores how artificial intelligence can support qualitative research—from coding and theme identification to summarization and pattern recognition. Participants will gain a balanced understanding of both the benefits (efficiency, new analytical possibilities) and the limitations (bias, loss of nuance, and ethical concerns) of using AI tools in this context.
Through a hands-on, relaxed approach, attendees will experiment with AI-powered tools and techniques, working with sample data to see how these technologies can complement traditional qualitative methods. Whether you're curious, skeptical, or already experimenting with AI, this session offers practical insights and collaborative learning.
Date: October 22nd

November 12th, 2025: Dr. Mana Azizsoltani
This session introduces the fundamentals of Explainable AI (XAI), what makes it so important, and how it can be applied in both academic and industry settings. We will explore practical examples from the professional services industry and highlight how large language models like ChatGPT can enhance explainability. The workshop will also cover applications both to teaching and research, showing participants how to integrate XAI concepts, use large language models for explainability, and streamline research capabilities.
