Office of Accessibility Services

Facilitating accommodations for Belmont students with documented disabilities to ensure equal access to University programs and services

Welcome to the Office of Accessibility Services!

The OAS team is committed to ensuring equal opportunity and access for students with disabilities consistent with both the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Our office collaborates with campus partners to create an inclusive environment for students. We do this by providing or coordinating reasonable accommodations to meet the student’s access needs according to the disability.

Our goal in creating this page is to assist students in understanding and navigating the accommodation request process. Students with disabilities seeking accommodations are encouraged to review the information on this webpage and reach out to our office with any questions.

Important Information

Prospective students with disabilities must meet the same admission criteria as all students applying to Belmont University. To learn more about the admissions process, schedule a campus tour, or consult with an Admissions Counselor, visit the Admissions and Aid webpage.

Eligibility for accommodations must be established through the Office of Accessibility Services before accommodations can be determined. Please visit our Request Accommodations page to review the process.

  • The Office of Accessibility Services adheres to all applicable TN state and federal laws pertaining to confidentiality. Our office maintains strict confidentiality for all students registered with our office and will not release any diagnostic information without the student's written consent. Written consent can be rescinded at any time at the student's request.
  • A student, regardless of age, is the "legal entity" once he or she begins to attend Belmont. FERPA rights belong to the student, not the parent or guardian. This means that students must consent before a record is disclosed to the parents or legal guardians.
  • A student can authorize Belmont to discuss his/her educational records with parents/guardians by filling out the Consent to Release Educational Records.

Accommodation records and diagnostic information are kept separate from academic records in our secure information management system.

If you have any questions about the confidentiality of your records, please reach out to the Office of Accessibility Services by email at accessibility.services@belmont.edu.

It is the responsibility of the student to make accommodation requests known to our office and report any concerns regarding their accommodations and/or access barriers.
