As a complement to the courses offered, students complete a research sequence that allows them to participate in the process by which scientists make the discoveries that they read about in their courses.
This includes the development of a research project, mastering of experimental protocols and laboratory skills, analysis of data and dissemination of information in poster and oral presentations.
These course and research requirements are excellent preparation for admission into doctoral programs or medical school.

Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
“Belmont has opened many doors for me to get deeply involved in the science field. I’ve been able to conduct graduate-level biochemical research as an undergraduate sophomore through SURFS and teach science to underprivileged high schools through the VISBIL program. I’ve developed strong relationships with my professors who are eager to assist my journey to get into medical school and truly care about me succeeding as a student.”
