Graphic Design USA Magazine acknowledges Belmont’s graphic design for second consecutive year
Belmont University's Watkins College of Art has once again been recognized among the nation's top design schools by Graphic Design USA (GDUSA), marking the second consecutive year the program has earned this prestigious recognition. Notably, Watkins is the only program in Tennessee to appear on the 2025 list, highlighting its distinctive approach to design education and its continued commitment to preparing students for meaningful, creative careers.
GDUSA's annual list highlights institutions that excel in teaching both the hard and soft skills necessary for success in the fast-moving design world. Watkins’s design communication program equips students with a broad range of skills focused on visual communication, creative problem-solving and understanding user needs.
"Being recognized again by GDUSA affirms our mission to develop purpose-driven artists and designers with a global perspective," said James Pierce, dean of the Watkins College of Art. "We hold recognitions like this with the utmost humility and enthusiasm. As we celebrate their wins inside and outside of the classroom, our overall hope is that students will enter the workforce as adaptable, empathetic creative professionals ready to thrive in every space.”
Each year, students shine in competitions like the American Advertising Awards. In 2025, five students brought home an array of honors at the local ADDY Awards — advancing to the regional level.
These accolades reflect the College’s dedication to preparing the next generation of creatives for their chosen careers.
