Fall 2025 semester classes begin for 8,975 new Bruins
Belmont welcomes a near-record number of students for the Fall 2025 semester. The total student enrollment reached 8,975 students on the first day of classes, a 9.4 percent increase since 2020, and a 2 percent increase over last year.
The private, Christian institution in the heart of Nashville, Tenn. attracts applicants worldwide for its competitive undergraduate and graduate programs, with new and returning students hailing from 48 states and 29 countries. The incoming freshman class, 57 percent of whom are attending Belmont from out of state, boasts an average high school GPA of 3.78.
“There’s a renewed sense of purpose at the start of each semester as students return to campus and we welcome new Bruins into our community,” said University President Dr. Greg Jones. “Strong enrollment reflects the confidence that students and their families place in our mission, our academic programs, state-of-the-art facilitates and faculty and staff, and it reminds us of our commitment to developing leaders equipped to make a positive impact in the world.”
Fall 2025 enrollment data comes on the heels of two major University openings. Students recently moved into the new Betty Wiseman Hall, the largest residence hall to date with 300,000 square feet of suite-style and apartment settings and a modern e-sports facility. Additionally, the Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music completed phase one of its landmark Music Row expansion featuring student and professional spaces that intersect industry and education and blur the lines between classroom and real-world experience.
Dr. Chris Gage, Belmont vice president for enrollment services, stated, “Belmont’s near-record enrollment reflects several key strengths. As a leading Christ-centered university, we are committed to nurturing both the intellectual and spiritual growth of our students. Nashville remains an attractive city for students to study, live and launch their careers — evidenced by our 97 percent career placement rate. We continue to reinvest in world-class facilities and foster innovation across our academic programs, ensuring they align with the interests and aspirations of today’s students.
“Just as important is the work of our Enrollment Services team. Their dedication, professionalism and genuine care for students embody Belmont’s mission and make our campus a place that immediately feels like home.”
New and returning students can benefit from expanded academic offerings as well. The Master of Arts in Media and Entertainment Industries graduate program through Curb College hosted its inaugural class for an opening immersive experience earlier this month. Additionally, classes are already underway for the 54 students who make up the second class of medical students attending the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine.
Final enrollment numbers will be available in mid-September following the University’s official census.
