Two-day event focuses on moving from conversation to collaboration in health care innovation
Belmont University's Center for Nursing Innovation will host its second annual Nursing Innovation Summit Nov. 6-7, bringing together health care professionals, academics and industry leaders to advance action-oriented innovation in nursing practice.
This year's summit, themed "Moving from Conversation to Collaboration and Application," builds on the momentum from the inaugural 2024 event and emphasizes transforming ideas into practical solutions for health care challenges.
The two-day event, sponsored by the Tennessee Center for Nursing Advancement, will feature keynote speakers Dr. Whitney Staub-Juergens, vice president of transformation operations at HCA Healthcare, and Dr. Olga Yakusheva, economist and professor of nursing at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and economics editor for the International Journal of Nursing Studies.
“We are proud to partner with Belmont’s Center for Nursing Innovation to support this important summit,” said Jennifer Hitt, executive director of the Tennessee Center for Nursing Advancement. “By bringing together nursing leaders from across the state and beyond, we can collaborate and develop actionable solutions to address the challenges facing health care today.”
Thursday's programming will take an innovative approach to addressing the nursing workforce shortage. The day will include a "shark tank" rapid design lab led by HCA's Digital Transformation and Innovation team, designed to generate actionable solutions to workforce challenges.
Friday will feature interactive breakout sessions allowing attendees to focus on specific areas of innovation including education, practice, systems, design, policy and technology and data. The collaborative, hands-on sessions are designed to move beyond traditional lecture formats to engage participants in meaningful work.
“We’ve designed the breakout sessions to go beyond talk. They’re interactive, practical and meant to spark partnerships and create tools you can take back with you to make a real difference,” said Dr. Kathryn Dambrino, director of the Center for Nursing Innovation and chair of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program. “For me, that’s the heart of the Summit — leaving inspired, but also equipped to act.”
The summit will also feature a Flourishing Fireside Chat, offering an intimate and thought-provoking conversation on how the science of flourishing can transform nursing practice and workforce well-being.
The Center for Nursing Innovation is accepting abstracts for innovation pitches and poster presentations through Sept. 15. Innovation pitches should showcase ideas that are in early stages and need additional support, while poster presentations should highlight completed innovation work. Details and submission guidelines are available on the Center for Nursing Innovation website.
“At the Center for Nursing Innovation, we’re committed to fostering meaningful dialogue that leads to real-world impact, and we are grateful to partner with the Tennessee Center for Nursing Advancement to make this summit possible," said Dr. Julie Honey, dean of the Inman College of Nursing. "Together, we’re creating space for collaboration that not only highlights the work of nationally recognized keynote speakers, but also equips nursing leaders to address the most pressing challenges facing our profession today."
Registration is required for both days of the summit.
