Biography

Dr. Traci Poole joined the faculty of the College of Pharmacy as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice in August 2010. She is a 2009 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy in Richmond, VA. Upon graduation, Dr. Poole completed an ASHP/APhA-accredited pharmacy practice residency with an emphasis in community care at VCU School of Pharmacy and Kmart Pharmacy. She also served in several roles at the VCU School of Pharmacy including co-preceptor for students on introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences, clinical instructor in pharmacy practice laboratories, and guest lecturer in the Self-Medication courses.

Dr Poole is a board certified as an ambulatory care and geriatric pharmacist with a primary practice focus of geriatric internal medicine and developing clinical services within innovative health care models. Her other areas of particular interest and expertise include immunizations, medication therapy management, and self-care. She has an established practice site at Apothecary, an independent community pharmacy, located in the Gulch area of downtown Nashville. Her practice site serves as an advanced pharmacy practice experience site for fourth year student pharmacists in community-based medication management, community pharmacy, and management.

As Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Dr. Poole teaches second and third year student pharmacists in PHM 6200: Self-Care Therapeutics, PHM 6530: Business and Entrepreneurial Management, and PHM 6335: Pharmaceutical Care III. She currently serves as the college’s coordinator for the American Pharmacists Association’s certificate program in medication therapy management and is faculty for the immunization certificate program. Dr. Poole has great interest in the advocacy of the profession and is actively involved in the Tennessee Pharmacists Association (TPA), American Pharmacists Association (APhA), and National Community Pharmacists Association. She currently serves as the faculty advisor to the Belmont Student Pharmacists Alliance, TPA’s Society of Student Pharmacists and APhA’s Academy of Student Pharmacists.
