Biography

Dr. Tanu Rana earned her M.S. in Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India. She received her Ph.D. from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India where she developed an assay for the detection of active tuberculosis infection. She came to Nashville for her postdoctoral training at Meharry Medical College and studied host-pathogen interactions. With her expertise in microscopy, she became a part of the instrumentation core at Meharry, consulting and participating in transdisciplinary research and authored several publications. Prior to joining Belmont, Dr. Rana served as a faculty in the School of Medicine at Meharry Medical College. She taught microbiology and genetics in the masters, dental and undergraduate medical education (MD) programs.
