Biography
Susan Finch (Ph.D., Florida State University, M.F.A., Indiana University) is a Professor of English specializing in creative writing with an emphasis in fiction. She writes both fiction and nonfiction, and her work has appeared in The Chicago Tribune, New Ohio Review, Crab Orchard Review, Nimrod International Journal of Poetry and Prose, The Greensboro Review, among other literary publications. Her prose has been a finalist in many contests, including the Tennessee Williams Fiction Contest, the Katherine Anne Porter Prize, and she has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She has been the recipient of a Tennessee Williams Scholarship in fiction at The Sewanee Writers’ Conference. Her short story collection, Dear Second Husband, will be published in the spring of 2026 from Carnegie Mellon University Press. Her research interests include the novel, the short story, creative nonfiction, and children’s literature.s literature.
