Biography
Dr. Shunta M. Curry provides strategic leadership to advance the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine’s academic, operational, and organizational excellence. She partners with senior leadership to strengthen institutional infrastructure, foster collaboration, and ensure alignment with accreditation standards and the college’s mission to develop compassionate physician-leaders. She played a pivotal role in establishing the foundational systems that launched the medical school and continues to champion initiatives that promote effectiveness, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
With more than two decades of experience in higher education administration and faculty affairs, Dr. Curry has served in pivotal leadership roles at Vanderbilt University and Meharry Medical College and began her career in health sciences education at Morehouse School of Medicine.
She earned her Master of Science in Leadership and Organizational Development from South University and a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Professional Practice at Trevecca Nazarene University.
Grounded in faith and guided by purpose, Dr. Curry believes leadership is both a responsibility and a ministry—one that requires vision, humility, and a heart for service. Her work is anchored in the belief that education is a divine calling that transforms individuals, empowers communities, and builds a legacy of excellence for generations to come.
