Biography

Nicole VanBendegon supports nursing students in strengthening their competence in lab, simulation, and clinical courses by helping them connect theory to practice through immersive learning experiences. Her nursing background includes clinical roles in medical-surgical, labor and delivery, and high-risk obstetrical units, as well as experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Maternal-Infant Health. After relocating to Tennessee in 2013, Nicole transitioned into nursing education and discovered a passion for simulation-based learning. She is certified as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) and a Certified Academic Clinical Nurse Educator (CNEcl), supporting simulation-based learning and clinical nursing education in academic settings. As a member of the Student Success Team, Nicole enhances student learning through Supplemental Learning Experiences and Open Labs—both designed to provide additional opportunities to practice clinical skills, strengthen clinical judgment, and prepare for safe, effective patient care.
