Biography
Dr. Mihai Covasa earned his Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Physiology and Nutrition from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, followed by postdoctoral training in Neuroscience at Washington State University. He subsequently held a tenured faculty position at Penn State University, served as Director of Research at the Microbiology Institute at INRA, France, and was a doctoral advisor at Sorbonne University, Paris. He has also taught and trained medical students at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. Dr. Covasa has published more than 110 peer-reviewed scientific articles. His research focuses on the physiological and molecular mechanisms regulating food intake and body weight, with a particular emphasis on the role of the gut microbiota in metabolic disorders, including obesity and diabetes.
