Biography
Belizean-born pianist Dr. Jeriel Jorguenson is a promising young performer and teacher. Over the course of his career, he has had the honor of performing in a variety of venues and performing in competitions, one of which allowed him to perform with the Tennessee Cleveland Symphony Orchestra in 2019.
As a graduate student at the University of Memphis, Jorguenson served as the principal pianist for the University of Memphis Wind Ensemble for five years, allowing him to travel around the southern United States, including an appearance at the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Conference in 2022. These years of graduate study activated Jorguenson’s love for music education.
In addition to his work as an educator, Jorguenson has had the honor of presenting at several piano conferences, including for the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Tempo Virtual Conference in 2025, as well as the Frances Clark Center’s National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy (NCKP). In 2025, he was appointed to one of the organizing subcommittees for the Piano Conference, allowing him to work with young professionals to curate a dynamic series of sessions on the impact of new professionals in the field of music education.
Jorguenson received both his doctoral and master’s degrees in piano performance at the University of Memphis with Dr. Artina McCain and his Bachelor of Science degree from Lipscomb University, where he studied with Dr. Jerome Reed. He is on staff as a group and private piano instructor for Belmont University and Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.
