Biography

Douglas N. Hales is a Professor of Supply Chain in the Massey College of Business. He has taught ten different operations and supply chain courses at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels over the past 21 years. His research interests center on applied process improvement methods such as Lean Six Sigma and Design Thinking, seaport competitiveness, and blockchain technology applications. He has won multiple research, teaching, and service awards at the college, university, and national levels. Prior to completing his PhD at Clemson University, he spent six years in the U.S. Marine Corps and thirteen years in the construction, plastics, and nonprofit management fields. His service passion is supporting veterans and raising donations of durable food products for local food pantries.
