Davon MIles

Biography

Dr. Davon Miles is a Faculty Fellow in the College of Education at Belmont University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Tennessee State University, a degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Memphis, and a Ph.D. in Leadership with a focus in Adult Education from the University of the Cumberlands.

Dr. Miles brings experience in English education, instructional leadership, curriculum development, corporate instructional design, and adult learning. He began his career in Nashville, where he taught English for five years before transitioning to Shenzhen, China, where he served as the founding English Department Chair at BASIS International School Shenzhen from 2020 to 2023. In that role, he supported curriculum development, department systems, instructional planning, and teacher collaboration.

He later worked as an instructional designer with Asurion, where he designed learning experiences for adult learners and collaborated with tech experts supporting major technology partners, including Google, Dell, Apple, and Microsoft. Most recently, Dr. Miles served as Dean of Academics at STEM Prep Academy, where he supported curriculum implementation, teacher development, professional learning communities, classroom observation, evaluation, and professional development.

Dr. Miles’s research interests include learning systems, human-computer interaction in education, instructional design, artificial intelligence in educational practices, teaching, and self-regulated learning. He is especially interested in how educators can use emerging technologies to strengthen instructional practice while preserving the human judgment, relationships, and expertise that support meaningful learning.
