Biography
Cooper Thompson is an Adjunct Instructor of Piano and Keyboards at Belmont University, where he teaches class piano, commercial piano lessons, and other keyboard-related performance classes. He is also a longtime lead counselor and instructor of the School of Music’s annual Piano Invitational.
Mr. Thompson plays keyboards regularly across the country with multiple groups, including the 12 South Band, a high-end corporate band, Fly2K, a multi-genre 1990s and early 2000s tribute band, and more. He also frequently works as a music director and arranger, including almost two years serving as the musical resource director at Fellowship Bible Church in Brentwood, TN.
Mr. Thompson graduated from Belmont University with his Bachelor of Commercial Music degree in 2020, and his Master of Commercial Music degree in 2022. His graduate thesis and recital explored the rich use and importance of keyboards in commercial music. During his time as a student, he was the band director for the Company and Phoenix ensembles, and he was featured in numerous showcases and honors recitals. He was the arranger and band & session leader of Belmont University’s 2021 virtual tribute to Dr. and Mrs. Bob Fisher, former president of the university, recorded in Ocean Way Studios.
