Biography

Dr. Cathy Beck has more than 35 years of experience in the field of education. She began her career as an elementary teacher, spending 18 years in the classroom before moving into educational leadership. Over the course of her career, she has served as a Director of Curriculum, an elementary principal, a high school principal, and an assistant superintendent, most recently retiring from her role as a superintendent in Tennessee. Since her retirement, she has continued her work in education by consulting on school turnaround efforts throughout Tennessee.
Dr. Beck is the author of several books, including Easy and Effective Professional Development and Leading Learning for ELL Students, as well as two children's books, Mice in the White House and Mice in the Ivy. Her first adult suspense novel is set to release in mid-September. She maintains an author website, catherinebeck.com, where readers can learn more about her writing. Dr. Beck is also a passionate advocate for educator connectivity and can be found on Twitter at @cathypetreebeck.
Dr. Beck and her husband have six children and three dogs. The couple spent 12 years living in Breckenridge, Colorado, before returning home to Tennessee. While in Colorado, Dr. Beck was selected to travel to Finland to study its educational system, an experience that continues to inform her perspective on teaching and learning today.
