Carly Elliott

Biography

Carly G. Elliott serves as Associate University Counsel at Belmont University, where she advises on a broad range of legal, regulatory, and compliance matters affecting higher education. With a background spanning higher education, public education, and government law, she provides counsel on civil rights compliance, Title IX, disability law, employment matters, policy development, investigations, dispute resolution, and institutional risk management. Prior to her appointment as Associate University Counsel, Carly served as Belmont's Director of Institutional Compliance and Title IX Coordinator, overseeing the university's response to reports of discrimination, harassment, and other civil rights concerns.

Before joining Belmont, Carly served as Executive Director of Civil Rights and Title IX Coordinator for Metro Nashville Public Schools and as an Assistant Metropolitan Attorney for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, where she advised public agencies on education, employment, and civil rights law. She began her legal career clerking for Judge W. Neal McBrayer of the Tennessee Court of Appeals after an externship in the Office of the General Counsel at Pepperdine University during law school. Carly earned her Juris Doctor and Certificate in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, magna cum laude, from the University of San Diego.
