Biography

Dr. Anthony Blash, Pharm.D., BCompSc., CPHIMS, is an Associate Professor in the College of Pharmacy at Belmont University, where he specializes in healthcare informatics and digital health. Recognized as a thought leader in the field, Dr. Blash has developed a pioneering sequence of courses and experiential learning opportunities that prepare PharmD students to evaluate, implement, and govern data-driven and AI-enabled healthcare systems.

Dr. Blash serves in multiple national leadership roles advancing digital health and pharmacy informatics. He is Chair-Elect of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Technology in Pharmacy Education and Practice (TiPEP) Special Interest Group and a member of the 2026–2027 AACP Strategic Engagement Committee. He also serves on the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) Pharmacy Informatics Specialty Council, contributing to national certification and recertification standards, and is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Section of Digital and Telehealth Practitioners Working Group, focused on the role of pharmacists in digital health governance and stewardship.

He is a certified healthcare informatics professional and has authored influential work in the field, including a foundational publication on pharmacy informatics for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). Dr. Blash is the editor and contributing author of the forthcoming book, Transforming Healthcare: Digital Health and Emerging Technologies, which explores the evolving role of data, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation in healthcare.

Through his teaching, scholarship, and professional service, Dr. Blash focuses on preparing the next generation of pharmacists to critically evaluate, validate, and responsibly implement emerging technologies to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
