Biography

Dr. Amish R. Purohit has been a board certified vitreo-retinal surgeon since 2007 and is a Fellow of the American Society of Retina Specialists. Dr. Purohit completed his medical school from Emory University in Atlanta prior to specializing in Ophthalmology. He then went on to complete a combined medical/surgical retina fellowship at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA.

In addition to clinical practice, he has served as a special advisor to the FDA as well as a consultant/speaker for several Fortune 500 healthcare companies. More recently, he has provided his expertise as an investor and key opinion leader within the healthcare venture capital community.

Beyond healthcare, Dr. Purohit founded a diversified investment company, Alpha Development, which focuses on hospitality and sports. He began in the hospitality industry in 1999 and since that time has expanded a hotel portfolio to include brands from Hilton, Marriott, IHG as well as large scale boutiques. His experience includes real estate acquisition and development, hotel investment and brand development as well as leadership in company growth.

Most recently, Dr. Purohit has engaged in the sports industry as a founding partner in A to Z sports, an online broadcasting company. He also currently sits on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for Music City Baseball, an organization tasked with bringing MLB to Nashville.

He continues to expand his interests and expertise and has invested in and helped promote a variety of other industries concentrating on the growth of his home city in Nashville, Tn. He is particularly honored to serve the Frist School of Medicine at Belmont University and looks forward to helping guide the institution in developing physicians that will lead the healthcare community in the future.
