What better place to study architecture than in the midst of one of the country’s fastest growing cities steeped in rich design and surrounded by a vibrant creative culture? Welcome to the O’More College of Architecture & Design, which welcomed its first students in two undergraduate architecture programs in Fall 2020. The five-year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) professional program stands out as the most direct route to licensure while the Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies (B.S.A.S.) prepares students for graduate studies in architecture or related fields. But these programs are so much more than a path to professional success.

Studying architecture at Belmont means mastering the specific professional skills needed to work in architecture. But more than that, studying here means gaining the broader capacity to think critically, courageously and compassionately to engage and transform the world.

Combining an academically challenging liberal arts education and a strong sense of mission in a Christ-centered community, Belmont’s architecture programs inspire you toward a new way of thinking about the practice of architecture. Through a truly modern education, Belmont equips students to think critically, solve problems in diverse groups and communicate clearly through preparation that draws from new circumstances and technological innovation as well as the enduring principles and traditions of building culture. Belmont’s architecture program will equip you with the professional and interpersonal skills necessary to achieve a voice of distinction and position of influence as you identify and pursue your purpose in life. Let us help you find your professional path toward imagining, designing and realizing a better, more beautiful and more just world.

Perfectly Positioned

Upon accreditation, Belmont’s newest program will fill a significant gap for architectural education in Nashville and the surrounding area. The B.Arch. program will be the only such program in Middle Tennessee and one of only two in the state.

Nashville’s unprecedented growth creates the ideal backdrop for studying architecture. Construction cranes pepper the sky in all directions. Examples of innovative design are all around. And the city is home to an already thriving architecture industry. But take a closer look, and there’s a lot more for you to learn. Nashville isn’t just experiencing growth; it’s also suffering from growing pains as fast development comes with its own set of challenges. This reality, however, provides an opportunity to learn and contribute solutions through community partnerships the program is establishing.

Be the Start of Something New

The new architecture program builds on Belmont’s rich history of academic excellence and recent success with other newly accredited programs in law and mental health services. Highly integrated with Belmont’s BELL Core Curriculum and drawing from the strengths of pre-existing programs in art and interior design, this program immerses you in architecture while exploring a variety of fields of study. Coursework in classes like environmental science and philosophy are intentionally integrated with architecture projects. Additionally, the program includes a focus on vocational discernment as a part of the regular schedule of academic advising. At Belmont, your professors want to understand how you define success so we can help you achieve it.
