A Letter from the Dean

Dear Student,

We stand on the threshold of a new beginning.

At the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine at Belmont University, we are committed to nurturing a new generation of physician leadersindividuals who embody the essence of compassion, empathy, and a commitment to healing.

Our mission is simple yet profound: to educate and mentor diverse physician leaders who embrace a whole person approach to healing in a community of service learning.

Our goal is to bring healing and hope, to dignify the lives of every individual and to provide care to all, rooted in a posture of humility. At the heart of our endeavor lie three guiding principles: Christ-centeredness, our commitment to unwavering hospitality which we extend to all people, and the recognition of our agencyour calling to, and respect for, the formidable work of medicine.

Those who learn within our program are not merely individuals pursuing a degree. They are compassionate souls, driven by a deep sense of purpose, possessing an insatiable curiosity about the human condition, and equipped with a transformational mindset. We invite those who yearn to make the world a better place, who are eager to engage in something larger than themselves, to join our ranks.

Our students will learn in a state-of-the-art facility designed to support our integrated curriculum. The building boasts a 50,000 square foot simulation centerone of the most comprehensive in the nationincluding virtual and augmented realities, case-based learning theatres, community spaces and ample places to study. Students will work with patients beginning early during their first year and continue with extensive outpatient and inpatient clinical training experiences throughout their 4-year program.

Our program is not for the faint-hearted. It is rigorous by designa crucible where your mettle will be tested, and your capabilities will be stretched. We promise an education that is both comprehensive and transformative. Alongside the demanding medical education program, students will find numerous chances to participate in community service, as well as opportunities for research and exploration.

What sets us apart is not just the challenging academics and robust clinical experiences we offer; it's our unwavering focus on YOU.

In our halls, you will not be just another student; you will be discovered, known and celebrated. We are dedicated to your personal, professional, and spiritual development, recognizing that your journey in medicine is not just a career, but a calling.

We can foster a life abundant for all, a life where healing and hope are not mere aspirations but tangible realities. We welcome you to join a community that transcends individuality, where competence and compassion intersect. Here, you can explore and nurture your passion and interests, regardless of your background.

We invite you to be part of something bigger than yourself, a community where you will be invigorated in what you are called to do: care, love, and heal.
