Methods for Quantifying Nursing’s Economic Value Contributions
In this working session, nursing economic value experts will guide participants in identifying ways to measure the revenue contribution and economic return on investment (ROI) of new nursing development programs, redesign of staffing models, and implementation of new interventions for use in quality improvement, evidence based practice, innovation, and clinical research evaluations. Workshop activities will include identifying potential cost-offsets and monetizable quality and safety outcomes to build the economic business case for investments in nursing.

Biography

Kathryn Lee, PhD, RN, is a post-doctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and a member of the Hopkins Business of Health Initiative. Prior to Hopkins, she received her PhD in Nursing from the University of Michigan. As a health services researcher, her research focuses on quantifying the economic value of nurses, with an emphasis on nurse practitioners and their impact on patient, organizational, and societal outcomes. Dr. Lee is committed to integrating nursing with health economics to demonstrate the value of the profession and advocate for policies that recognize and invest in their essential role.
