The Audio Engineering Technology (AET) major is designed to connect the art, science and practical application of audio engineering technology with a theoretical foundation to prepare students for all aspects of an career in Audio Engineering. AET graduates work in a wide variety of audio engineering technology fields, including operation, installation, manufacturing, and design of audio systems and equipment used in music, film and live event production.
Students in this program complete the B.S. or B.A. degree with a major in Audio Engineering Technology. AET students also pursue supplemental studies in a career related minor such as computer science, mass communications production, music or a business discipline such as music business or entrepreneurship.
Program Educational Objective
Within 5 years of completing their degree, graduates of the program should contribute to the art, science and practical application of audio engineering while pursuing careers in the application, installation, research, development, operation and maintenance of audio recording, reproduction, processing, and reinforcement systems.
Student Learning Outcomes
By graduation, Audio Engineering Technology students will have:
- an ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve audio engineering problems.
- an ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for audio engineering problems.
- an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly-defined technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
- an ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
