She earned her Master of Arts in Counselor Education at Central Michigan University and her doctorate at Western Michigan University. Along with being a fourth-generation educator, that includes statewide award-winning teachers and principals, Dr. Tilford-Jones has extensive and diverse experience, which includes teaching, directing several college counseling centers, consulting, and public speaking. She is especially passionate about AI and how it supports mental health, self-care, and serving the Type 1 Diabetes community as a volunteer.
At Belmont, Dr. Tilford-Jones is excited and committed to bringing her years of knowledge as a clinician, business owner, consultant, and educator to teach the next generation of counselors. She believes that great counselors are intentional about their self-care as they care for others. Also, she learned through her parents serving the community was a strong component of her family legacy. Over the years, she has continued to service the community through her church and sorority.
Dr. Tilford-Jones is also the mother of six adult children (two are married into the family) and one wonderful grandson. She and her husband, Sebastian Jones, reside in the Nashville area.
