Dr. Stewart completed her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center - Memphis and her residency in family medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center - Knoxville. After residency training, she moved to Nashville and enjoyed practicing in community health, local emergency departments, and urgent care. In 2008, Dr. Stewart joined the faculty at Meharry Medical College and practiced as a hospitalist and ambulatory care physician while precepting medical students and residents for several years while serving as the family medicine clerkship director. In 2020, Dr. Stewart became the Associate Dean of Medical Education and served until transitioning to the Frist College of Medicine as Associate Dean for Medical Education and Faculty Success.

Dr. Stewart enjoys teaching medical students about clinical decision-making, specifically regarding approaches to common patient presentations (vertigo, headache, and weakness are among her favorite topics). In addition, along with a collaborator, Dr. Stewart will soon have her first book chapter published regarding physician community approaches to medical student and resident resiliency.
