Biography

Dr. Priscilla Njeri Gitimu joined Belmont  University in July 2022, and she is currently serving as the associate dean and professor of fashion in the O’More College of Architecture and Design.

Priscilla has 16+ years of experience in higher education. She is a mentor who leads by example, enthusiastic, and a team-player. Priscilla has been conferred as a distinguished professor in both teaching and scholarship/research. She has served as a fashion program coordinator in two other universities in the USA. She has experience in program assessment, and academic advising.

She enjoys teaching fashion courses and research courses and is well published. She has valuable 21st century technology and communication skills. Priscilla enjoys being on the university campus and interacting with students and faculty. She delights in serving others and making a difference on campus and in the community. Priscilla’s teaching and research focuses on  body image, fashion philanthropy, computer applications of fashion, fashion system, social psychology of appearance, global textile complex, spatial visualization, fashion history, ethical  and sustainable fashion. She is a quantitative researcher.

Priscilla completed her PhD and master’s degrees in Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She studied Workforce Education with a specialization in Clothing and Textiles. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Kenya, where she met her loving husband Dr. Abel Gitimu Waithaka, and they have four wonderful daughters. Priscilla’s desire in life is to glorify God in all her endeavors, and to love life and others passionately.
