Student Doctor Alwahhamy is a fourth-year medical student at Meharry Medical College, with a passion for patient advocacy. She has specific interests in the intersection of medicine and health policy in at-risk populations, globally. She focuses primarily on the impact, or lack thereof, public health policy implementation.
Her goal is to help other patients individually, but to also serve as an advocate for whole populations to improve health outcomes. Beyond the power of the exam room Student Doctor Alwahhamy wants to have a substantial impact on the health of her patients by helping them address all issues that concern them: poverty, hunger, violence, education, sexual violence, lack of access to adequate healthcare, etc.
Kayla is a mother of three wonderful children and wife to her best friend. She enjoys hobbies like reading, painting, gardening, and hiking.
