Biography

Dr. Lauren Smith has been involved in healthcare for 18 years. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2007 and worked as a pediatric oncology nurse for 5 years at Monroe Carrell Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. She became board certified by the AANP as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2012. Since then, she has been practicing in a non-profit, faith-based clinic for the uninsured and precepting graduate students in both Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant programs. Dr. Smith is passionate about caring for marginalized populations with a special interest in caring for immigrants and refugees, which she has done in her practice for the past 13 years. She recently graduated from Belmont University with her DNP and is excited to help students learn how to compassionately care for patients, communities, and themselves.
