Biography

Elena Wong Espiritu (PhD, OTD, OTR/L, BCPR) currently serves as an Associate Professor, teaching both in the MSOT and OTD programs. Prior to coming to Belmont, she worked for 10 years in the adult physical disabilities setting (acute care, inpatient acute rehabilitation and outpatient) both as a clinician and team coordinator. She currently works as needed at a skilled nuring facility providing subacute rehabilitation services. Dr. Espiritu is board certified in physical rehabiliation through AOTA. Her research interests are in promoting student well-being, student success, integrating faith and work, self management, interprofessional education, fostering clinical reasoning through experiental learning, and providing quality therapy to those with least access.
