Biography
Dr. Alexis Harris Snead is a private practice renal pathologist who practices at the Laboratory for Kidney Pathology in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from the East Carolina University School of Medicine in Southeastern North Carolina, where she also completed a pathology residency.
During 1996-1997, Dr. Harris received fellowship training in renal pathology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) where she remained to serve as a staff renal pathologist from 1998- 2000. After leaving UNC Chapel Hill, Dr. Harris served as the renal pathologist at the University of New Mexico (UNM) and as the sole renal pathologist in the state of New Mexico for 7 years. After leaving UNM in 2007, she worked at Nephropath (now Arkana Laboratories) in Little Rock, Arkansas from January 2007 to June 2013.
Then, Dr. Snead joined Ameripath/ Quest Diagnostics in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she served as a renal pathologist from July 2013 to June 2020. After leaving Oklahoma City, she began a Locum Tenens career, working part-time and serving as a minister’s wife since 2023. She also currently serves as an Associate Professor at the Frist School of Medicine, part of Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Snead has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards during her 30-year career while also practicing as a clinical renal pathologist for the academic and private sector. She is currently involved in teaching as well as in developing and advancing foundational medical curricula for medical students, residents, and fellows.
