Serious Gaming for Serious Conditions: Cross-Cultural Innovation in Dementia and Delirium Education

Belmont University’s Global Health Innovation Initiatives has partnered with Queen’s University Belfast to co-design a culturally responsive digital escape room focused on the prevention, recognition, and management of delirium and dementia. Funded by the QUB’s Agility Fund, this project engages over 300 students and faculty in the United States and the UK to evaluate how serious gaming can enhance critical thinking and care competency in future nurses. The digital tool provides an interactive learning environment rooted in evidence-based practice, addressing a growing global health concern through an innovative, cross-cultural lens. This collaboration exemplifies how international partnerships and student-led research can transform nursing education to meet the demands of a complex, aging world.
