Why Belmont?

Nationally ranked and consistently recognized as a “Most Innovative” university by U.S. News & World Report, Belmont has a lot to offer its students. What makes Belmont outstanding is not its ranking, but its people. Our 8,400+ students come from all 50 states and many countries around the world. As a teaching university, we work hard to maintain our 13:1 student to faculty ratio and an average class size of 22 students.

Belmont is home to outstanding faculty members who love to teach, like Dr. Ronnie Littlejohn who was recently named 2015 Tennessee professor of the year. Students can choose from 95 undergraduate majors. Combining the best of a professional and liberal arts education, we offer everything from science majors in our labs in the Ayers Academic Center (formerly Wedgewood Academic Center) to arts majors such as music, music business, art, theatre and motion pictures.

Outside the classroom, Belmont students have countless ways to get involved both on and off campus. On campus, there are 145 different student organizations, intramurals, and 17 division I sports teams (GO BRUINS!). Off campus, students are immersed in life in Nashville. 72% of our students complete internships before they graduate gaining valuable work experience. Many others participate in community service opportunities coordinated by Belmont. And, everyone gets to enjoy life in the one and only Music City USA!
